Golden Goal For Catholic
Posted by soccermom under: Boys News; Irish Soccer .
On a very cold, windy and wet afternoon, Catholic and Monett took over 84 minutes to determine a winner. With wind toward their back, Monett was able to score two goals in the first half. They were able to score by heading in a crossed ball 26 minutes in the game and found the back of the net again only a minute later.
Catholic didn’t score until 67 minutes in the game when Justin Bowenschulte put Catholic on the board. The Catholic coach made a strategic offensive move that paid off when David Bailey was able to tie the game in stoppage time.
In the first overtime game for Catholic this year, Catholic defenders were able to deny a Monett goal in the 81st minute of the game. Only minutes later, on a great team effort, the ball quickly moved from Cullen Barr to Adam Entrup to Justin Bowenschulte who was able to score the golden goal, giving Catholic the 3-2 win.
