Catholic defeats Greenwood
Posted by soccermom under: Boys News .
For the second year in a row, Catholic’s soccer game against Greenwood provided as much as excitement as as was anticipated. With fairly even attacks by Catholic and Greenwood in the first half, the game remained scoreless at half.
In the 47th minute, Adam Entrup was able to slip a ball to Justin Bowenschulte in the middle of the field. Justin was able to place the ball in the left hand corner just past the Greenwood goalie (Goal by Justin). After Catholic took the 1-0 lead, they concentrated more on possession ball, controlling most of the game by passing it arounnd the field (Late game battle). Greenwood did still have their attacks on goal, with defense stopping most drives and goalie keeper Levi Millsap stopping a potential game tying score with less than 5 minutes left in the game (Goal save Greenwood Game)
The SCHS Boy’s Soccer team was very appreciative to the tremendous turn out of SCHS supporters! They were definitely the 12th man in the game.
Catholic’s record is now 6-0. Next game, for JV and V, will be on Tuesday, September 23rd, at home against Bolivar.

What a great game you boys played. Levi made an UNBELIEVABLE stop to allow us the win. We played the second half well and passed the ball much better than the first half. It kept us much more in control of the game during the second half. Keep up the good work as we start a long week with several away games. Teamwork is what got you the win last nite and teamwork is what will continue to improve. It is not who scores the goals that is important but the passes and the teamwork that gets the job done.
