Catholic Improves to 7-0

Posted by soccermom under: Boys News .

Catholic’s JV team started the night with a 2-0 win over Bolivar’s JV team.  Max Holtmann was able to score 10 minutes into the game on a good leading pass from Austin Lewis.  Logan Green later added to the score when he scored a goal on a corner kick at the 47th minute.  The defense and GKs denied Bolivar JV from scoring any goals in the game.

After losing twice to Bolivar Varsity last year, the Catholic Varsity was able to jump on the scoreboard early when David Bailey shot the ball from the right baseline and hitting the far left side of the goal only 9 minutes into the game (Goal 1).  At the 19th minute, Cullen Barr worked the ball into the left corner and was able to feed it to an oncoming Justin Bowenschulte who was able to score on the drive.  Then at the 25th minute, Justin Bowenschulte dribbled down the middle of the field and passed the ball to Cullen Barr on the far left side who was able to place the ball past the goalie into the net.  Only a minute later, at the 26th minute, David Bailey was able to pass the ball to Cullen Barr who scored once again.  With less than a minute to go in the first half, Taylor Arens was able to kick the ball from half over the Bolivar defense to Adam Entrup in front of the goal.  Adam Entrup was able to place the ball in the net, scoring the 5th and final Catholic goal of the night.

Catholic went into the second half with a 5-0 lead.  Playing a very patient, passing game, Catholic had a few more attacks on goal but primarily played a controlled offensive game.

The final score of 5-0 over Bolivar improved Catholic’s record on the year to 7-0.

That was some of the best ball control and passing that I have ever seen. You guys completely dominated the game from about 5 minutes in and did a wonderful job of creating space. Be proud of that accomplishment last night and get focused on your next game. Nice work.
