Catholic Suffers First Loss – JV and V

Posted by soccermom under: Boys News .

In the first game of the night, JV fell to a very athletic and physical Carthage JV 3-0.  Carthage JV was able to score two goals in the first half.  Catholic JV continued to battle, only allowing Carthage 1 more goal in the second half.  Carthage fans indicated that was the closest game that Carthage JV has had all year.

In the second game of the evening, Catholic Varisty battled Class 3-Carthage Varsity 60 minutes before giving up a goal.  The game was a very physical, fast paced game that could of gone either way.  Catholic had two scoring opportunties in the first half when a hard shot from Adam Entrup hit the far left posted and came back out, another opportunity when Cullen Barr was making a solid drive to the goal although it was a no-call, he was laid out in the box.  Again in the second half, Catholic had two definite scoring opportunities when the ball got passed the Carthage GK.  However, according to the officials both were saves by Carthage defense.  Although emotions got high, the Catholic players continued to play hard for the entire 80 minutes until the whistle blew, a hard fight to the end.

The final score was 1-0 giving Catholic Varsity their first loss on the season.  Catholic Varsity has a 7-1 record.  Looking forward to the next game at 4:00 pm on Friday, September 26 at the Sacred Heart Showcase in Sedalia, Missouri.
