Catholic Adds To Win

Posted by soccermom under: Boys News .

After a half hour game delay because of bus breakdown for Lee Summit Christian, the game was on.  Our boys came out relatively flat during the first half and the score of 2-1 demonstrated it.  Our only goal during the first half came when Luke Straus stole the ball at 27 minutes and passed to Cullen Barr.  He dribbled around defenders and drilled the ball into the back of the net (Goal 1)

Coach Kofron encouraged the group at halftime with an inspiring speech that resulted in the team coming out with much more enthusiasm.  The boys were able to come out quickly scoring at 6 minutes into the half when Luke Straus once again passed to Cullen Barr (Goal 2).  3 minutes later, Luke took a corner kick resulting in a beautiful header by David Bailey floating over the goalkeeper’s head (Goal 3)  Lee Summit came back to make it a 3-3 game until less than 2 minutes left.  During a flurry of shots from Catholic players, Lee Summit was called for a hand ball in the box,  David Bailey took the penalty kick and drilled it into the top right hand side of the net, virtually freezing the goalie in his tracks (Goal 4).  The game ended with Catholic gaining it’s 7th victory by a 4-3 score.

Catholic Varsity plays St. Paul Lutheran on Saturday at 10:00 am before returning to Springfield to enjoy their Homecoming dance.
