Posted by soccermom under: Boys News .

Catholic Varsity played the first game Rogersville.  In this game David Bailey was fighting to earn back his foward spot on the team after spending several game back in the defender spot he played last year.  It took 11 minutes before David Bailey was able to score the first goal by heading in a serve by Justin Bowenschulte.  To further strengthen his foward spot, David was able to score three more times in the first half, with assists from Adam Entrup, Austin Lewis and one goal was unassisted.  At 32nd minute Carson Shaefer was able to add a goal to his credit.

In the second half, Catholic was able to score three more times.  Justin Bowenschulte found the net from a pass from Cullen Barr at the 44th minute.  Six minutes later, the most impressive goal of the game from a short corner kick from Luke Straus when Reid Harbach was able to fire the ball from the far left side of the field and hit the upper right hand corner of the net.  In the final goal of the game, Adam Entrup got on the board when he scored on a pass from Burke James.

Catholic defense only allowed Rogersville one shot on goal which was cleanly fielded by GK Matt Simpson.

Because the field was not lighted, JV was limited to one 40 minute half.  In a repeat from the first time Catholic JV faced Rogersville JV, Catholic JV got the win with the same final score of 2-0.  Austin Lewis scored the first goal at 27 minute; assist to Logan Green.  The second goal was scored at 34th minute, when Burke James passed to Brandon Kratz who recorded his first goal of the season.

Catholic records improve to 12-3 for Varsity and 6-1-1 for JV.  Both teams are in tournaments this weekend – Varsity in the Kickapoo tournament and JV in the Parkview JV tournament.
