Catholic Claims COC Championship Title for small schools

Posted by soccermom under: Boys News .

Although it took Catholic’s first OT game to do it, Catholic claimed the Central Ozark Conference Championship (small schools) Title their first year in the conference.  In a game where Catholic once again possessed the ball a majority of the time, they were able to score first when at 14 minutes into the game  Luke Straus passed the ball from the center of the field to an oncoming Adam Entrup on the right side of the field.  Adam Entrup was able to put the Catholic team on the board first with a goal.

In the second half, at 71 minutes, a Catholic defender was called on a foul in the box.  Bolivar player, Kyle Slagle, was able to score for Bolivar on the PK.  Catholic was unable to finish on many drives to the goal ending the regulation time with a 1-1 tie.  In their first OT game, Catholic came out and scored only 48 seconds into the OT period when on a drive toward goal, Taylor Arens received the ball when Bolivar attempted to clear the ball.  Taylor Arens had a hard shot on goal that hit the GK.  The GK did not cleanly field the ball and Justin Bowenschulte was able to finish by putting the rebound into the goal (Goal 1).  Catholic Varsity now has a 14-5 record on the year.

In the first game of then night, Catholic JV team improved their record to 7-3-1 with a 1-0 win over Bolivar JV.  At 47 minutes, Austin Lewis was able to score on a pass from Brandon Kratz.
