Catholic Wins Both Over NCA

Posted by soccermom under: Boys News .

In the first game of the evening, Catholic JV got on the board at 26 minutes on a goal by Burke James.  Catholic JV continued to control the game.  Burke James was able to score again at 47 minutes.  The third and final goal was scored by Thomas Diebold which was created by a hard play and a good pass from Jim Hill.  Catholic JV finished the game with a 3-0 win over New Covenant Academy JV.

In a game that was important to the Class 1 District 6 seeding, Catholic Varsity came out flat and were being outplayed by their opponent NCA Varsity.  Consequently, NCA got on the board first at 26 minutes when NCA player Weimer was able to break down the defense and place the ball past the GK in the far right corner of the goal.  Catholic responded only 2 minutes later, when Justin Bowenschulte was able to place the ball in the net off his head from a well place corner kick by Luke Straus (Goal 1).  The game was tied at half at 1-1.

Similar to many of the recent games, Catholic Varsity came out very inspired after half.  Catholic Varsity had not been playing their possession and passing game, the game changed momentum with Catholic now playing their style of game.  After several stops by the NCA goalie, at 60 minutes,  Adam Entrup was able to finish on a goal that originated as a shot on goal by Luke Staus that was not fielded cleanly by the NCA goalie (Goal 2).

Catholic got the  2-1 win, improving their record to 15-5.
