Catholic V and JV Win Over Aurora
Posted by soccermom under: Boys News .
Since the Aurora field did not have lights, Varsity teams played first. In a game where the bounce of the ball could of changed the game, Catholic maintained control over most of the game. At only 6 minutes, Taylor Arens found David Bailey who was able to score. At 23 minutes, Reid Harbach fed the ball in the middle off a foul kick to Justin Bowenschulte who was able to finish for the second goal of the half.
At 62 minutes, Luke Straus was dribbling the ball to the goal when a Aurora defender laid him out in the box. Taking advantage of the situation, Catholic center defender Connor Dahlberg took the PK. Dahlberg took a beautifully placed shot easily firing the ball past the Aurora GK placing himself in the books. The last goal was finished by Justin Bowenschulte on a shot off the Aurora GK at 64 minutes. Catholic won the game 4-0.
Catholic GKs Brandon Kratz and Matt Simpson combined efforts for another Catholic shutout - for the 11th Catholic team shutout.
Catholic JV was limited to one half of play because of the limited daylight. It only took one half for Catholic to beat Aurora JV 3-0. Jim Hill was able to score twice in the game and Nick Engler added another goal.
Both V and JV will have a home against Willard for their last regular season game. Seniors will be recognized before the Varsity game.
