Catholic Ends Season with Two Wins
Posted by soccermom under: Boys News .
JV played the first game when the weather was warm, beautiful and sunny. Burke James was able to get on the board when he scored on a pass from Thomas Diebold in the first half. Catholic continued to play some back and forth soccer, even though they did not score again in the game, they also denied Willard from scoring. Catholic JV won the game 1-0.
On Senior Night, Cullen Barr was recognized as he was escorted by his mother and father, Suzy and Tom Barr. Matt Simpson was also recognized as he was escorted by his parents, Debbie and Bill Simpson. Their soccer careers, academic achievements and goals were recognized as they were presented to the crowd.
As the sun set, the temperature dropped significantly allowing for a very cold game. At 15 minutes, Reid Harbach hit a remarkable goal (Goal) that put Catholic on the board. With Willard packing in the defense, Catholic was unable to score again in the game. Goalkeepers Matt Simpson and Brandon Kratz once again combined for the shutout, making it Catholic’s 12 shutout of the year with the game ending 1-0.
Catholic Varsity ended their regular season with a record of 19-5 and JV’s record was 10-3-1. Congratulations to both teams for successful regular season records. Varsity begins district play on Monday at 5:00 at SCHS fields – please come out and support them. It is one game at a time now.
