Lady Irish split two game on final day of Jefferson City tournament

Catholic defeated Fort Osage 3-0 in the morning game of the Capital City Classic before losing 1-0 to Westminster in the afternoon game. Goals against Fort Osage came from Anna DeLong, Natalie Smid, and Emil Kessler, with assists going to Rachel Herron, Andrea Parker, and Courtney Devlin. Megan Goetzinger recorded the shutout in goal for the Lady Irish.
The afternoon game was played between two extremely tired teams on a very warm, windy day and it showed in the quality of play. Westminster scored on a corner kick in the 5th minute and made the goal stand up for the final 75 minutes to get the win in a game where neither team was close to its best. Bekah Bade generated some excitement for the Irish when she hit the cross bar in the 66th minute and generated a shot on a breakaway in the 75th minute that required the keeper to make an excellent save. The Lady Irish played the game without Shelby Hatz, Anna DeLong, and Ronnie Renner all of whom suffered injuries earlier in the tournament.
The next game for Catholic is Senior Night against Greenwood on Monday.
