Lady Irish defeat Waynesville 3-0

Posted by soccermom under: Girls News .

The Catholic girls raised their season record to 15-6 with a win tonight in Waynesville.  The match was delayed 45 minutes by lightning with 15 minutes to play in the first half with the score tied 0-0.  Following the delay the Catholic attack began to pressure the Lady Tiger defense resulting in a goal from Natalie Smid assisted by Bekah Bade two minutes before half.    Erin FitzGerald gave the Irish a two goal lead when her strong shot from 25 yards eluded the goal keeper in the 59th minute.  Andrea Parker recorded the assist.  The final Lady Irish goal was a beautiful finish by Smid when she headed a Courtney Devlin cross into the net in the 66th minute.  Carsen Baron, Rebecca Mayus, Kathleen Garrison, Connor Guy, and Jessica Bowman played strong defensively throughout the evening limiting Waynesville’s scoring opportunities.  Maddy and Ronnie Renner, Mandy Bailes, Emily Loethen, and Emil Ortega provided strong minutes in the midfield, while Emily Kessler and Jordan Banasik made a nice contributions up top.  Shelby Hatz continued her comeback from an ankle injury playing 40 minutes this evening after a 30 minute outing last night in West Plains.  It is great to get her back on the field as she begins to rebuild the rhythm she had before the injury three weeks ago in the Pattonville game.  Rachel Scott and Megan Goetzinger combined for the shutout.

The Lady Irish won the JV match 2-0 raising their record to 9-1-1 on the season.

The final match of the regular season for the varsity and JV is scheduled for Thursday evening against Glendale at Cooper 3.
