Catholic Beats Nixa 4-1

VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS - Tonight was Catholic’s last home game of the regular season featuring a free bbq with hamburgers and hotdogs – compliments of People’s Bank of Ozarks.  The night started with recognition of the three seniors:  David Bailey, Justin Bowenschulte and Ricky Delong.  The game started with all seniors on the field for Catholic.

david vs nixaIn a game that was closely called, Catholic made several runs to the goal but it took 20 minutes before they scored first.  The first goal was off a cross from the right side by Josh Moncada that Nick Kofron on the left side was able to solidly hit past the Nixa goalie.  Catholic got their second goal in the 28th minute when Luke Straus scored off an assist by Taylor Arens.

Although Catholic continued to have a solid passing game, it was not until the 59th minute when Justin Bowenschulte scored with an assist from Adam Entrup.  In the 61st minute Luke Straus took a corner kick that hit off the shin guards of a Nixa player.

With the comfortable 4-0 lead, Catholic was once again able to give all their players some playing time.  Although they were unable to score in the last minutes, they continued to control the game.  Unfortunately with only minutes to go, on an iffy officiating call, the Catholic goalkeeper cleanly caught a strike from a Nixa player that the official awarded Nixa a goal.  It was the official’s opinion that the Catholic goalkeeper leaned backwards over the line.  Nevertheless, Catholic beat Nixa 4-1.

Once again, congratulations to Catholic’s three seniors, David Bailey, Justin Bowenschulte and Ricky Delong.  All three players have play for Catholic in each of the three years since the inception of boy’s soccer at SCHS.
