HIGHLIGHT VIDEO – In the semi-final Class 1 District 6 game tonight, Catholic faced New Covenant Academy for the first time this year.  Their first scheduled regular season game was canceled because of rain.   KSPR news was at the game and also captured some highlights that were on the 10 pm news.

irishvsncaIt took over 17 minutes for Catholic to get on the board when David Bailey flicked  a corner kick from Justin Bowenschulte to the middle of the goal that Mitchell Moncada was able to finish.  At 22 minutes, Taylor Arens was able to gain control of the ball from a scramble in front of the goal and score.  Luke Straus was able to score the third goal in the 28th minute off a pass from Nick Kofron.  The fourth goal in the first half was scored by David Bailey who was able to dribble between the NCA defenders and send the ball to the back of the net.

The game became fairly physical in the second half with very few calls by the officials.  Catholic continued with the possession game with a couple of unsuccessful drives by NCA.  In the 73rd minute, Evan Craig was able to score the final goal of the game.

In their 12th shutout of the year, Catholic defeated NCA 5-0.  Catholic will now face Greenwood in the Class 1 District 6 Championship game at 5:00 pm on Thursday, November 5 at Harrison Stadium on the Drury Campus.
