The Lady Irish won the morning game of the Kickapoo Shootout against Ozark 3-0. Catholic got on the board in the 12th minute when Carsen Baron’s free kick eluded the keeper and Shelby Hatz put it in the open net. Both teams battled hard throughout the match but it was the Irish who would prevail on this day after three consecutive losses their rival. Emily Ortega gave Catholic a critical second just before when she nicely finished a pass from Natalie Smid. Shelby Hatz sealed the match in the 51st minute when she took a pass from Andrea Parker, split two Ozark defenders, and buried the ball into the right post side netting from the left side of the penalty area.
The win against Ozark set up a championship game against the Jefferson City Lady Jays who had also defeated Ozark and Parkway West earlier in the tournament. Catholic opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Bekah Bade hit a nice shot inside the right post after taking a pass from Shelby Hatz. Jefferson City equalized in the 63rd minute when Molly Cowley put a ball into the corner at the left post from 22 yards out. Ronnie Renner put the Irish back on top in the 72 minute when she buried a penalty kick after Bade was taken down in the penalty area. The Jays equalized again in the 77th minute when they scored from a free kick after Catholic has cleared three consecutive corner kicks. The game went to overtime and in the final minute of the second overtime the Jays Arielle Williams dislodged the ball from Megan Goetzinger’s hands and knocked it into the goal. Megan had clear possession of the ball, but unfortunately for the Irish the referee allowed the play to stand.
Final Standings for the White Division
