Posted by soccermom under: Irish Soccer .

The Lady Irish defeated Greenwood this evening 4-0 at Catholic to win their 8th consecutive district title.  Shelby Hatz got Catholic off to a quick start when she slotted a great square ball from Bekah Bade into the goal in the 5th minute.  The Irish put heavy pressure on the Bluejays the entire evening but were unable to distance themselves until the 71st minute when Rachel Herron scored off a pass from Ronnie Renner.  In the 77th minute Herron gave Natalie Smid a nice ball that Natalie drilled under the bar from 18 yards.  Emily Loethen scored her first goal of the season when she drilled an Erin FitzGerald corner kick into the net in the 79th minute.  Rachel Scott and Megan Goetzinger combined for their 16th shutout of the season and 7th in succession.

Catholic advances to the state quarterfinal which will be played at 6:00 pm on Thursday, May 27th in Waynesville.
