Lady Irish advance to State Championship Game

Catholic defeated St. Vincent today 1-0 to advance to the state championship game against Trinity Catholic tomorrow at 4:00 pm at the A-B Center in Fenton. The Irish defense was again dominate recording their 9th consecutive shutout. Rachel Scott made a tremendous save in the 32nd minute when she punched a strong shot over the bar keeping the game scoreless. After an even first half the Irish came out strong in the second half putting intense pressure on the Indians. The game winning goal came in the 56th minute when Carsen Baron sent a free kick into the penalty area. Bekah Bade battled two St. Vincent players and the loose ball fell Natalie Smid who slide the ball inside the right post.
Trinity Catholic defeated Catholic in the semifinal game last year 2-0 sending the Irish to the 3rd place game. Trinity then lost the championship game 3-1 to St. Vincent.
