Catholic JV over Branson

Posted by soccermom under: Irish Soccer .

Catholic’s JV team traveled to Branson on Tuesday evening to face off against the Pirates JV squad on their home field. This would be the first game for the Irish in their 2010 campaign.

It was a beautiful day for a game and Branson’s field is truly one of the best fields in the area. The game started off quickly for the Irish as they were able to set a tone to the game in the first 10 minutes with good passing and ball movement. Unable to find the net but keeping Branson at bay the score was even at 0-0 after the first half.

The second half started off much like the first with Catholic enjoying some nice passing sequences. However Branson struck the first blow scoring on a quick counter attack to make it 1-0 Pirates. The Irish quickly responded with a nice goal from Nick Wiegers to tie the game up at 1-1. Almost 30 seconds later Wiegers struck in a nice goal from distance to push the Irish up 2-1. With the lead the Irish played strong defense led by Dylan Buehler in goal who commanded the box well and was able to tame the Pirates breakaways by coming off his line nicely. Connor Arens tallied Catholic’s third goal and Tim Brooks slotted in the fourth and final goal for the Irish.

Overall it was a very spirited game and the Irish competed and fought hard for the entire game. And they responded well with a nice come from behind commanding victory against Branson.
