Catholic split two games with Logan-Rogersville tonight winning the varsity match 4-0 and dropping an exciting 3-2 decision to the Lady Wildcats in the JV match.
In the varsity match, Nicole Ortega scored three goals and Courtney Devlin scored her first goal of the season. Lydia Holtmann recorded three assists for the Irish and Carsen Baron added an assist. Megan Goetzinger notched her third shutout of the season. Catholic played without injured seniors Rebecca Mayus and Natalia Smid who will both hopefully return for the annual battle against the Kickapoo Lady Chiefs on Friday night.
Logan-Rogersville scored two early goals in the JV game leading to Coach Jordan Reppell placing Mary Wichmer and Jess Gamble in the back line. They both played extremely well to stabilize the team. After giving up a third goal just before the half, the Lady Irish came out strong in the second half with Lauren Schoen putting two in the net in a three minute period in the middle of the half. The final 15 minutes were hectic as Catholic battled to equalize, but fell just short.
