Lady Irish win two against Bolivar

The Lady Irish JV opened the evening with a come-from-behind 2-1 win over the Lady Liberators.  After falling behind midway through the first half Olivia Dobard leveled the match for Catholic with a nice finish of a Whitney Lucas cross.  Whitney scored the game winner in the second half, assisted by Rachel Mantei, to raise the Lady Irish JV record to 4-3 on the season and push their winning streak to three games. 

The Varsity game began is quick fashion as Nicole Ortega put the Irish on top in the 3^rd minute with a blast from close range on the left side, but the Liberators leveled the match in the 9^th minute when Mariah Roberts headed home an Izzy Mersch corner kick.  Catholic went on top again in the 19^th minute on a Shelby Hatz goal assisted by Natalie Smid only to see Bolivar again draw even three minutes later on a goal by Jonna Welch.  The Irish went on top again in the 30^th minute when Natalie and Shelby worked a beautiful combination in the box that Natalie finished.  One minute later Jonna Welch was free again, but fortunately for the Irish her chip hit the post.  Jordan Banasik finally gave Catholic some breathing room in the 35^th minute off a pass from Mandy Bailes.  Natalie and Shelby took over early in the second half with Natalie scoring two and recording an assist and Shelby scoring one and assisting one as the Irish put 4 in the net in the first 17 minutes. All 23 girls contributed good minutes for Catholic in the conference win.
