SCHS Pick Up Two Wins in KC
The Fight’n Irish got off to a good start on the KC weekend trip with a Friday night win at Pembroke Hill. The Irish got on the board in the nineteenth minute on a header by Danny Renner. Renner got up above the defenders to knock in a corner by Dallas Moses. The Irish had the majority of possession during the half and came close to adding to the lead on two other occasions. During the second half the Irish put the game away on two set piece goals by Reilly Harbach (Dallas Moses) and Evan Craig (Dallas Moses). The Irish back line were put under pressure during the second half but held strong led by central defenders Danny Renner and Burke James and wing backs Ryan Randall and Blake Webber along with versatile sub Nick Weigers. James Straus also came up big in the second half to make an outstanding save to keep Pembroke from scoring.
Saturday, the Irish faced Barstow HS on their home pitch. With the lack of rain in the KC area and extensive play on the Barstow game filed the pitch was not in ideal conditions to play a free flowing game of soccer. However the Irish did not let the playing conditions interfere with their ability to “knock the ball around” and play Irish Soccer. In the fifth minute Mitch Moncada sent in a nice cross to the feet of Evan Craig. Craig made no mistake with his finish and put the Irish on top. Later in the half the Irish went up 2 – 0 with Reilly Harbach assisting Ryan Randall on a “Rocket” into the Barstow goal. Ryan making an overlapping run from the left outside back position, caught all of his shot from inside the eighteen yard box to put the game out of reach. In the second half the Harbach brothers both got on the board with Reid hitting a long range shot and Reilly (Evan Craig) finishing off an assist from Evan Craig to move the Irish to the “20″ win mark on the season.
With the weekend wins the Irish improve to 20 – 0 – 1 on the season. The Irish will travel to Willard on Thursday night and face Nixa at Drury University on Saturday.

The school sets on the north side of the road and the soccer field parking is north of the field.
Barstow HS Address:

Irish go Undefeated in Kickapoo Shootout to take the Gold Title

Having played a tough OT match the night before the Kickapoo Shootout the coaching staff was worried about how the team would respond. The answer came Saturday afternoon when the Irish remained undefeated and took the Gold Division Title.
In the first match on Friday night the Irish faced a determined Waynesville Tigers team. After beating Waynesville in the first game of the season the Tigers were out for revenge. As with the night before against Ozark, the Irish dominated possession and shots. The Irish generated 28 shots to Waynesville’s 4, but the Irish struggled finding the back of the net. It wasn’t until the second OT that the Irish scored on a Golden Goal. After having pickup up a foul in the Tigers half, Dallas Moses sent a free kick into the box where Reid Harbach out jumped the defenders and buried the ball in the back of the net.
On Saturday morning the Irish were paired with the Tigers again, this time from Carthage. After having a good showing in the Gateway Classic in St. Louis, the Carthage Tigers were looking to build upon that success with a Kickapoo Shootout title. However, our Irish were determined as well and after see-saw play during the first half, Mitch Moncada, broke free early in the second half (after changing to his new Irish Green “boots” at half-time) to score the lone goal of the game. Mitch rounded the last defender with speed and slotted home near post. The Irish defense and keeper held strong, along with quality bench play and the Irish were headed to the finals!
In the finals, playing in the fourth game in a little less than 48 hours, (including two OT matches) the Irish dominated the team from Pattonville. The Irish, as tired as they were, had a look that indicated they refused to be beaten. They entered the game strong and dominated possession forcing their opponents to chase the ball often during the first half. In the 10th minute, off of a corner kick by Dallas Moses, Reid Harbach headed the ball back across the goal to Danny Renner. Danny, made no mistake about where to place his header and beat the keeper near post for the first goal of the championship game. As it turned out, that goal would be the game winner. However, the Irish continued to dominate possession and got three second half goals by Mitch Moncada, Reilly Harbach (Mitch Moncada) and Mitch Moncada (Ryan Randall).
With the Championship, the Irish improved their record to 16 – 0 -1 on the season. Next up this week is a home game against Bolivar for the Small Division COC Championship followed by a trip to KC for games this next weekend.
