SCHS put 5 goals past Bolivar to take second win in the COC
SCHS got its second win in the Small Central Ozark Conference match at Bolivar HS on Tuesday night. Catholic applied the pressure early in the match and were rewarded with a goal in the twenty-third minute. A long range shot by Moncada was deflected from goal however, Luke Straus, through quick reactions, was able to keep his shot low and put Catholic ahead.
Catholic got a second goal on an alert play by Dallas Moses. After he was fouled outside the box, while Bolivar was organizing the wall, Moses took a quick free kick to put Catholic up two. This seemed to cause some controversy with the Bolivar parents, however, unless a player explicitly ask for 10 yards, the ball can be replayed after placing the ball at the spot of the foul.
Catholic finished off the half to go up 3 – 0, with a nice goal by Evan Craig after a fine feed from center-mid Reid Harbach. SCHS went on to score two more goals in the second half as Moncada (Moses) and Green (Moncada) both finished goals after fine build up play by the Irish.
In other action on Tuesday night, Catholic JV lost a tough match with Bolivar JV. After a scoreless first half, Bolivar got a goal within the first minute in the second half on a shot just over the reach of goalkeeper Rash. The Irish pushed forward after that and had several opportunities but were unable to find the back of the net.
The Irish will host Carthage HS at home on Thursday night with the JV scheduled to begin at 5:00 pm with the Varsity to follow.
